STEP 1- INSTALL YOUR GATEWAY

(If you didn’t purchase a PRO Monitored device skip to step 2)

1.1 – What is a gateway?

The MerryIoT Lora Gateway connects your FireAvert PRO device to your home internet, so you can receive instant text alerts if your stove is left on too long or there’s a safety concern. It acts as a bridge, making sure your FireAvert can notify you wherever you are.

1.2 – Parts included in the gateway box

1.3 – Connecting your gateway using Ethernet

  • Locate your home WiFi router.
  • Confirm that your WiFi router has an ethernet port (see illustration below). If your WiFi router does not allow ethernet connection, navigate here

  • Using the ethernet cable provided, connect it to 1) the MerryloT gateway and 2) your home WiFi router.

  • After connecting the ethernet cable, power up the gateway using the provided power cord. Plug the small end of the power cord into the power slot on the back of the MerryIoT gateway and the other end into an outlet near your router.

  • After connecting the ethernet cable and the power cord, the icons on the front of the gateway will begin blinking blue…
  • Once the following 3 icons (see below) are SOLID blue you are now ready to move on to step 2.

STEP 2 – INSTALL YOUR AUTO STOVE SHUTOFF

2.1 – Installing the Electric FireAvert Auto Stove Shutoff

  • Turn off power to the stove by flipping the range breaker switch OFF.
  • Pull the stove out to gain access to the back of the stove
  • Connect the stove’s power cord to the Auto Stove Shutoff
  • Plug the Auto Stove Shutoff into the wall outlet.

2.2 – Installing the Gas FireAvert Auto Stove Shutoff

  • Turn OFF power at the breaker. Plug the FireAvert device into the wall outlet.
  • Turn gas valve to the OFF position, connect solenoid to the gas line and oven, and plug the oven and the solenoid into the FireAvert device.
  • Turn gas valve back to the ON position & test for leaks.

STEP 3 – TESTING YOUR AUTO STOVE SHUTOFF

3.1 – What you need to test your stove

3.2 – Testing the FireAvert Auto Stove Shutoff

  • Flip the breaker switch back ON.
    • For Electric: Turn one stove knob ON as well.

  • Hold the ‘Test’ button on your smoke detector or play the YouTube video for ~30 seconds—the stove should shut off.
  • Many smoke alarms ‘Test’ mode does not sound long enough or with a normal smoke alarm sound. If ‘Test’ mode is not working for you, play the YouTube video above for ~30 seconds to active the device.

STEP 4 – RESETTING YOUR AUTO STOVE SHUTOFF

4.1 – Locate the QR code sticker

Provided in your packaging is a small QR code sticker. This QR sticker allows you to quickly restore power to your stove. After locating it, do the following to reset your stove:

  • Clean and dry a surface near your stove.
    • Common locations to place the sticker include on the stove top, range hood, refrigerator or nearby cabinet.
  • Place the provided QR code sticker on that surface.
  • Make sure ALL stove knobs are in the OFF position.
  • Use your phone to scan the QR code and follow instructions to reset your stove.

4.2 – Other reset options

Once you have completed the installation process and your monitoring is activated, there are a couple more options available to you to reset your stove.

  • Reset through text prompts
    • If your Auto Stove Shutoff cuts power to your stove, you will receive an alert with a text prompt. Follow the prompt flows to reset your stove through the text messages.
  • Dashboard reset through your phone or computer
    • Once you’re monitoring is set up and you have created your account on the FireAvert PRO Dashboard, you can reset your stove remotely from your phone. Locate your device on the dashboard and press the “Reboot” button to reset your stove.

STEP 5 – CONFIRM NOTIFICATIONS

5.1 – Test Your Auto Stove Shutoff Again

Testing your auto stove shutoff the first time was to 1) ensure the product installation was done correctly and 2) allow your auto stove shutoff to send a signal to your MerryIoT gateway.

Perform step 3 and 4 AGAIN.. Immediately upon a successful test, you should receive a text notification notifying you that your stove has been shut off.

If you received a text notification from FireAvert, you have successfully activated your text/email notifications.

STEP 6 – FINISH MONITORING ACTIVATION

6.1 – Create an account on the FireAvert PRO Dashboard

What is the dashboard?

The FireAvert PRO Dashboard is a tool designed to help you monitor your Auto Stove Shutoff and any other devices purchased from FireAvert. Whether you are purchasing an Auto Stove Shutoff for yourself, a loved one, or a rental property, the FireAvert PRO Dashboard enables you to monitor your home with ease.

To create your account, locate the email in your inbox from ‘FireAvert Invitations’ and follow the instructions to create your account. If you cannot find the email, check your spam folder.

6.2 – Customize Alerts

Once you have created your profile, navigate to your ‘Profile’ in the upper right hand corner.

To customize your alerts, find your name and click on the settings icon. Next, navigate to “Alert Preferences” and customize your alerts.

Adding new members

Under the PRO subscription, you are limited to 3 members (including yourself) to receive alert notifications. If you would like to add more than 3 members, you can pay an additional $1 /month per additional member.

To add new members, under the “Settings” section, locate the ‘Add New’ button. Fill out the required information to add a new member to your monitoring account.

Your monitoring activation is complete!

Your home is now protected by FireAvert.
